Every year in august the representatives of civil society, journalists and relatives of the convicts have a chance to visit the correctional facility of Vologda region and see life of the convicts. I have visited 8 prisons by this way. At the end of the reviews in all prisons, a special commission consisting of the authorities determines the winner.
“Useful deeds days” is annual competition of Correctional Facilities in Vologda region, that hold in every august since 1964. In 2017 Women's prison #2 won.
Today's Russian prisons, home to over 613,000 prisoners and 424 out of every 100,000 Russians. Some experts say the prisons in Vologda region are more comfortable and the guards less cruel compared to other Russian prisons.
