Worst Case Scenario

I imagined a deserted city, abandoned by its inhabitants. The worst-case scenario in which the economic crisis has forced citizens to leave the place where they live.
It's a work in between the documentation of reality (in some photographs the buildings photographed are truly abandoned, image 03, 05) and a projection of the concerns and the possible scenarios related to the current crisis. Young people emigrate abroad (image 08, Polytechnic of Athens), the empty city (image 02, 04, 10), the tourists abandon the idea of visiting the country (image 01, 07) in the streets there are signs of the clashes with the police and social conflict (picture 09, at dawn after a night of clashes between police and anarchists in the Exarchia).
I shoot this series during the Referendum days, when the chance of winning of the "NO" vote was regarded as the end of the Greek state overnight.
I just had to choose the right times when the town emptied as every day, at sunrise and sunset, to take these photographs and create a surreal and ironic imagery.
