People - NOMINEE: Bram Tackenberg

In 2015 i've started making this series, which is still in progress. I've been cruising the Netherlands visiting Dutch households in diverse compositions, photographing them in their own living rooms. Due to the solemn approach and seeming lack of emotion, the portraits tend to transcend the everyday. I'm aiming on making photos which become true documents, meeting resemblance with former portraits of dignataries. But the display of power and prestige replaced by ones own individuality.

About author:
Born in Heerlen, The netherlands. Live now in Gouda. Study Fine Arts in Arnhem (2000) and master in Enschede Dutch Art Institute (DAI) 2002. After my study i worked a lot as independent artist for companies and governmental institutes. I make photo's, films and animation films for them.
And besides the work for clients i have always make my own work. And do a lot of exhibitions, in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany.
Now i concentrate on portraits, i work with a slow medium format camera. And use almost always studio light. Also outside. I'm looking for a great concentration and stillness in my portraits.
I live at the time in Gouda with my wife and two daughters.
