As I stood mesmerised by the view through the window in Ladahak, I never would have thought it would inspire this series.
During my trip to Ladakh in July 2016, I was in search of something unique, a different perspective to showcase the beauty of Ladakh. The first moment I glimpsed at the landscape through my bedroom window, it took my breath away and I was fascinated with the enchanting view. As if this wasn’t sufficient, each and every window was different in shape and size. Except for the district headquarters like Leh, Kaza and Kargil in the Trans Himalayan range, there is limited or no power supply in the remote villages. The weather is very harsh here. The high altitude passes get blocked due to excessive snowfall in the winter and most of the villages will be inaccessible for a period of 4-6 months. This has led to houses and monasteries having huge windows to let in plenty of sunlight. Basking in the warmth of the sunlight, gazing at the view through a window with a hot cup of tea, you truly feel blissful. Inevitably, wherever you go, you are the witness to beautiful scenes through the window.
The thirst, to capture the beauty through the windows, continued during my Spiti Valley trip in June 2017. This is an on going series and I want to capture the entire Trans Himalayan range through such enchanting windows during various seasons of the year.
About author:
I was born and brought up in a small village named Jaggannapeta in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India. I had great interest in art and anything that required creativity right from childhood. I’m an avid traveler too. I like to watch the beauty of nature and always wanted to freeze those moments. This photography bug caught me during my weekend hiking trips. And soon it turned into an enthusiastic passion. Currently I spend most of my free time photographing and travelling to new places. I like to capture surrealistic landscapes and people in candid moments during their daily life. I always look for a unique view of perspective in capturing photos in a way that it describes and speaks for itself. And this gives me the utmost satisfaction, as this passion of photography demands me to be more creative and helps me to strive even harder towards capturing pictures in the best possible way.
