Landmarks of Doha, Qatar

Doha, the capital of Qatar, has seen fast growth in its infrastructures over the last few years, like any other city in the Gulf. With this growth comes ambitious designs conceptualized by designers and their respective clients while keeping a note of modernity and uniqueness.
With this series, I wish to impart to the viewers of my images that there's more to the Middle East beyond the city of Dubai. And the hard work that went into the conceptualization of each architectural marvel and to the actual execution that went into building each one of them from the ground up. This series presents some of the more prominent landmarks found in the city of Doha that will captivate any tourist and architecture lovers alike.
With this in mind, I chose fine art, black and white so I can remove the distraction that colors may bring to the eyes of my viewers. Black and white also amplifies the beauty and extravagance of each architectural marvel that is assured to stand the test of time.
Each image is entitled, "The Mosque", "The Amphitheater", The Bird House", "The Museum", "The Skyline", "The Cultural Center", "The Courtyard", "The Faculty", and, "The Ceremonial Court".
My ultimate goal for this project is to go beyond Qatar. There are countless landmarks from different cities all over the globe. Unfortunately, some of these landmarks are just being taken for granted or worse, vandalized and destroyed by the very people who should be taking care of them. This project is somewhat a way to immortalize these landmarks which is in turn part of the identity of a particular city and its residents.
About author:
Anthony is a Qatar-based photographer who specializes in Architecture, in Fine Art and as well as in Black and White photography. He was raised and born from the tropical islands of the Philippines. In 2009, he decided to venture out of his comfort zone in order to work to the Gulf city of Doha, Qatar. It is in Qatar where he discovered his love of photography, which started only as his hobby during the early months of 2015. This hobby eventually evolved into his means of expressing into digital art the beauty that he sees through his camera.
Anthony is known for immortalizing the uniqueness of the architecture in the country that he is in by either converting the image into an ethereal monochrome or by producing a stunning colored image. Each photograph is assured to be made with great attention to detail while maintaining his signature style of incorporating different moments of time into a single photo.
He has been recently awarded Third Place Winner for Architecture: Buildings, Non-Professional category by the International Photographer Of The Year Awards 2016 (IPOTY 2016) and Honorable Mention Award for Architecture: Buildings, Non-Professional by the International Photography Awards 2016 (IPA 2016). He was also a recipient of Second Place Award from a photography contest by Sony Middle East and FotoArabia, Qatar held on April, 2016.
