Insomnia

Insomnia is a ongoing project that has been developed during the past 2 years.
Due the economic crisis I was forced to move back to my hometown. Coming back to a village, where there is nothing to do, where everyone knows you and it seems to controls your life, made me feel anxious and overwhelmed, so much so, I couldn’t sleep. Through photography, I can express what I’ve gone through during this phase, trying to coexist with my situation and everything that surrounds me.
Here are my emotions and my memories, my dreams and my fears. This is a portrait of myself.

José David Valiente (1986) is a documentary and fine art photographer based in Murcia, Spain. He studied Audiovisual Image and then continued with Artistic Photography in EASD Murcia.
José is powerfully drawn to decadence, marginals, bizarre, wild and mystery. His work is very personal. It reflects the environment around him and he makes use of its elements to portray himself.
