After all of my life in Europe, I moved to Mexico with couple of expectations: to cut the previous routine and get out of my comfort zone. There were different stages of the journey; but between the euphoria of freedom and fear of uncertainty I took pictures.
Instead of finding answers, I found more questions: what does it mean to travel, to be on a journey? What do we expect from a journey? Is it possible to perceive something new, different or we are dealing with pictures given to us by the media or travel guides? Are we really travelling or just dealing with our previous perceptions brought from home? How is it possible to arrive somewhere? What happens between leaving home and arriving to a destination? Are we really getting new experiences or proving – through photography, social media – documenting, that we were there? Is it possible to tell a story, to show the experience of a journey?
By the end of my joruney, Mexico became much more a metaphor than a real place. I’ve captured the stages of an inner journey into uncertainty.
