Kushti, the noble art

Kushti is a form of wrestling practiced in india, it's not just a sport actually, it's a lifestyle made up of strict rules which allow to earn a pure and noble living.
Wrestlers live and train together followed by a guru who is also their spiritual guide. Each apprentice has the responsibility of cleaning, cooking, washing, and other jobs.
Elite wrestlers live under strict rules of celibacy, consume a prescribed diet and are forbidden to drink and smoke.
The place where the wrestlers practice kushti is called Akhara, which is a a training school and an arena in which to compete against each other and where it is possible to use a range of fairly simple but effective equipment. Guru Hanuman Akhara is the oldest Akhara existing in India, located in New Delhi, it has produced national and international wretslers of India. These pictures has been taken there.
