A year and a half ago I started working on a documentary project in which I wanted to show the struggle for the rights of the Ukrainian LGBTIK community. I had figures and facts from sociological studies. This topic is very quickly exhausted, because I found that the struggle, or rather the "pathos of the struggle," is such a very thin upper layer, under which in every particular case life is hidden, like any other.
The most appropriate verbal label is the word "COMMON" - the life of "unusual" people in "ordinary" circumstances. To talk about a commonality, that people have much more in common than they sometimes think - Is it naive?
Now I'm still thinking about whether it should be a photobook or a book of photographs and texts, as the main media of what I'm trying to talk about. Speak conditionally documented. Conditionally, because it is a document about an event, the center of which is the internal state of my heroes:
- Loneliness as a phenomenon common to humanity and independent of sexual and other preference;
- Resistance to the system, to the own body and spirit of the transgender man in conditions where new orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine are not in forse, and the antihuman principles of the past continue to prevail.
