Science fiction or essential part of our future? In 2050 there will be 50 billion people. Agriculture, as it exists today, will reach its limits. In order to cover the growing demand for food, many companies are researching technological ways to develop alternative food sources. In recent months I have photographed various companies that are working on this topic. I have been to algae farms, insect laboratories, aquaponic farms and to different food incubators and start-ups. The project aims to visually connect technology and nutrition and shows scenarios of how our food can change with the help of science. In the coming months, further scientific fields will be added to the project. Soylent Food, Robotic Chefs and Clean Meat, are potential subjects. Especially In-Vitro Meat, the synthetically produced meat that does not require slaughter, will be an important aspect of the work. I have already researched European companies that are experimenting in these fields. With the international Photography Grant I could pay the necessary travel expenses and finalize the project.
