Dozens of incomplete or uninhabited buildings stand guards of the village - Cagnano Varano - suspended between the sea, the lake and the mountains.
We could call it the town of unfulfilled hopes, because most of these buildings were built by numerous citizens who emigrated abroad in the 50s. Thus, around the 70s, the construction of the new quarters of Cagnano began, with buildings of 3-4 plans built not for the need for an effective housing demand, but rather as a way to continue to maintain a link with their origins.
The hope was that one day the children would return to the places from which the parents had left.
Different life choices, and a negative economic situation, meant that the buildings remained empty or unfinished.
About author:
Self-taught from Italy. Photography allows me to express my visions of reality, often searching for the "invisible" that becomes visible.
Many of my pictures has to do with architectures and urban life, because this offers to me the opportunity to explore places and, through them, giving concrete shape to my thoughts.
Moreover, I like to depict the urban landscape to tell the story of a place, or to describe the changes caused by time or man.
