Dusk.
The conduit from the external to the interior world.
When night falls.
The shift from public to private.
Maybe something just happened.
Or it's about to.
Welcome in between.
When night falls, a journey through north American suburbs.
Statement :
I take pictures of what I do, my work is a roamer's diary. I dont intend to document reality as it is, nor create an elaborated view on the world. I see my work as a romantic testimony in the heart of a busy, rational and quantified world, a lone quest of empty and remote places.
I seek to give reality a sense of still, mysterious, eerie fiction, built with a question mark around it, because the job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery, Francis Bacon once expressed.
Whatever if they’re of a building, an interior or an object, I want my pictures to somehow have psychology, to say something about people.
I roam, I recreate a world where imagination and fantasy may overcome reality.
By conveying this sense of loss, isolation or mystery, I am trying to leave space for the viewer to make up its own stories, creating « the pleasure of not knowing » as Todd Hido says, when our mind eventually leads us to unexpected territories.
About author:
Since I graduated in 2015 (European Bachelor of Photography), I’ve shared my time between commissioned works (both photo & video), my part-time job as a studio photographer and personal and associative projects.
I’ve a several exhibitions since then, including two as a group with former school fellows, Le Grand Plongeon. I’ve also had a solo exhibition in 2016 in Paris at Strada Exhibitions.
I’ve recently started a new project, roaming through remote areas of France, telling visually about what I call the « backyard of modern France ».
From 2013 to 2016 I was a founding member of a collective called « Cheapster », organizing cultural events and parties in Paris, often in collaboration with museums. I was in charge of the visual communication as well as one the crew DJ. Under my alias Huntzing I created electronic music mixes matching various museums exhibitions (Musée Cognacq-Jay, Musée de la vie romantique, Petit Palais, Assises du Genepi).
I’ve thus developed a strong interest in the union of music and photography. I’ve been working towards this direction for several months now, in addition to my previous work regarding photographs and words (« Six-Word Stories »). I am currently working on an installation project gathering music, photographs and texts.
