When traversing remote landscapes by myself, I seek for moments of contemplation. Being on my own on these journeys, I immerse myself in the scenery. However, the infinite time horizons that I roam through, seem incomprehensible. Every mountain I encounter is millions of years old, every glacier refers to an eventful past. Recognizing this existing order in its complexity and understanding myself of being part of the infinite reality, exceeds my capacity for perception. Though, Photography allows me to throw orders onto these occurrences, to sense structures and to construct meaning. To me, this practice is a method of meditation – it creates moments of revelation and experiences of resonance.
“Terrain” is an exploration of these phenomena of different mountain ranges, glaciers, forests and gorges in Norway, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Slovenia and Greece.
